VU Diploma in Applied Psychology

The Diploma in Applied Psychology aims to train and develop skilled professionals in the field of Psychology. It is to address the increasing prevalence of mental health problems. This diploma program has been designed for psychology graduates as well as non-psychology graduates, medical professionals, nurses, social workers, and other specialists employed by NGOs or other organizations in the public or private sector.

It is also beneficial for students who intend to pursue higher education in Applied Psychology, as well as for those who seek a career in the field of psychology.

Diploma in Applied Psychology

Objectives

  • This course aims to develop a strong theoretical grounding in the fundamental principles and methodologies of Psychology.
  • This course intends to explain how psychological principles can be applied to follow and analyze social and psychological phenomena.
  • This course seeks to enable students to understand psychological disorders, various assessment techniques, and the corresponding psychological interventions.

Eligibility

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/ADP) or equivalent qualification from an HEC-recognized university/institution and a minimum of 45% marks or a CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.

  • Students having less than 45% of marks are eligible after completing the zero semester.

Course Exemption

Course exemption is not allowed for this program.

Diploma Duration

The program is structured as a one-year course, comprising two semesters with each semester having a duration of 18 weeks. Each semester consists of five courses.

Assessment of Study Progress

Student’s academic progress is assessed continuously during the semester through assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), midterm exams, and final exams. The midterm and final exams, which make up 80-85% of a course, are managed at the locations of the virtual university’s designated exam centers all over Pakistan as well as overseas.

Award of Diploma

To receive the Diploma in Applied Psychology, students must complete a minimum of two semesters of coursework, consisting of at least 30 credit hours, and achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.
