The Business Incubation Center (BIC) of Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) recently hosted an Entrepreneurship awareness seminar titled “From Idea to Enterprise: Mastering Entrepreneurship in Today’s Business Landscape” on June 13, 2024, at the VUP Faisalabad Campus. Attended by over 60 participants, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni, the event aimed to offer insights into entrepreneurship in the contemporary business environment.
Dr. Faisal Tehseen Shah, Director of ORIC at VUP, delivered opening remarks via video-conference, underscoring the significance of startups and entrepreneurship for both youth and the national economy. Keynote speaker Mr. Umar Qamar, Co-Founder of elo, shared his entrepreneurial journey and insights into fostering startup culture in Pakistan. Reflecting on elo’s evolution from inception to becoming a renowned brand, Mr. Qamar recounted the challenges faced during Pakistan’s retail revolution in 2013, when consumer preferences shifted towards branded apparel. Identifying an unexploited niche in online shopping, he seized the opportunity and successfully entered the market.
The seminar also featured a Q&A session and closing remarks from Syed Kashif ul Hasnain, Manager Marketing, ORIC at VUP, who highlighted the BIC’s role in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs.
The concluding remarks were delivered by Syed Kashif ul Hasnain, Manager Marketing, ORIC at VUP. At the end of the event, Mr. Qamar was honored with a souvenir, and certificates were presented to the event organizers in recognition of their contributions.
