The VU has successfully established more than 200 campuses across Pakistan, striving to cover every town and district, including those in remote or underserved areas. Two of these campuses have been established in Gujar Khan, a testament to the VU’s commitment to expanding access to quality education in this region.
The pivotal moment in the establishment of the VU’s presence in Gujar Khan came during the 3rd Convocation held in 2012 in Lahore. This event was graced by the presence of Mr. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, who served as the Minister of Power and Water at that time. Notably, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani was also in attendance. During the convocation, Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf made a significant announcement that would have a lasting impact on the educational landscape of Gujar Khan. He revealed plans to build a Virtual University campus in Gujar Khan, recognizing the pressing need for higher education facilities in the area.
In the wake of Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s announcement, the Virtual University swiftly moved forward with its plans to establish a dedicated campus in Gujar Khan. This campus would serve as a beacon of education, providing a wide range of academic programs and courses to cater to the educational needs of the local population. The campus in Gujar Khan was envisioned to offer students the opportunity to pursue higher education without the need to relocate to distant cities, a boon for those who previously had limited access to quality educational institutions.
In addition to the public campus, the Virtual University also established a private Virtual University campus in Gujar Khan. This dual-campus approach aimed to offer students a broader spectrum of educational options in Gujar Khan, enabling them to choose between public and private institutions based on their preferences and needs.
