Admission Eligibility for BS Software Engineering in VU

(1) For Students with 12 years of intermediate Education

      • 50% marks in an Intermediate certificate or equivalent education or a comparable certification approved by IBCC is required.
      • Students who did not pass Mathematics at the needed (Intermediate) level can apply, but they must take two additional 6-credit hour Mathematics courses during the first two semesters.

(2) Those who wish for 5th-semester admission

      • Minimum 45% marks in 14 years of education (BA/Bsc/ADP) obtained from a university or institute recognized by HEC.
      • To be eligible, the candidate must have majored in at least one of the following subjects: mathematics, physics, computing, commerce, statistics, economics, or engineering.
      • The Equivalence Committee will assess the number of courses required to obtain a BS degree as well as the duration of the residency on a case-by-case basis.

Course Exemption

Students who have previously finished 14 years of education and those who desire to transfer credit hours from other universities are eligible for course exemption.

Degree Duration

This program is a four-year full-time study divided into eight semesters, with at least 18 weeks for classes and exams in each semester.

 Assessment of Study Progress

Continuous assessment throughout the semester, including assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), and mid-term and final-term exams, is used to evaluate students’ academic progress. The midterm and final term exams are held at VU’s approved exam centers and normally account for 80-85% of a course’s total grades.
