Today marked the celebration of Virtual University of Pakistan’s 13th Convocation’s second phase at M.A. Jinnah Campus, Defence Road, Off Raiwind Road, Lahore. Mr. Tajdar Alam (T.I.), Former Managing Director of VUTV, graced the event as the chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Masroor Elahi Baber, Former Vice-Chancellor of Agricultural University D. I. Khan, and Gomel University, attended as the Guest of Honor.

At this convocation, Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti (S.I., T.I.), the esteemed Rector of Virtual University, shared profound insights into the institution’s pivotal role in national development. He highlighted the university’s dedication to advancing education in underprivileged regions, particularly in Baluchistan, reaffirming their commitment to providing educational opportunities where they’re most needed in Pakistan.

Dr. Bhatti announced Virtual University’s recent international accolades, including the prestigious Excellence Award from the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE). Additionally, he spotlighted the university’s remarkable achievement of securing a position in the Top 5% of Cisco Premier Partners.

Across the Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022 semesters, a total of 22,762 students became eligible for various degrees like Associate Degrees, B.Ed., Bachelor (2-year), BS (4-year), Masters, and MS degrees. Out of these, 4,977 degrees will be conferred in Lahore. The 13th Convocation will award 110 Gold Medals and 277 Merit Certificates, with 33 Gold Medals and 62 Merit Certificates being distributed at the Lahore event.

Dr. Tajdar Alam passionately spoke about Virtual University’s success story, starting from its humble origins in a single room to its impressive expansion to over 200 campuses across Pakistan, catering to a student body exceeding 130,000. He praised the students’ wise choice in selecting a Virtual University (VU) for education, highlighting the institution’s superior IT knowledge and self-learning capabilities compared to traditional universities. Dr. Alam also commended Rector Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti for his relentless efforts in transforming VU into one of Pakistan’s premier ICT-based universities.
