Virtual University BS Psychology

Psychology is a science that studies behavior and the mind. The BS Program covers basic processes such as sensation, perception, learning, cognition, development, and personality, as well as Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Behavioral Neuroscience. It also provides an understanding of the scientific methods used to evaluate theories and research in the Social Sciences, which is essential for our modern world.

The B.S. Degree Program integrates Psychology, Humanities, and basic science to prepare students for advanced training in Psychology, Medicine, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, and other related disciplines. It is explicitly designed to prepare students for graduate studies in the sciences and science-based professions.

Program Objectives

This program aims to achieve the following goals

  1. Provide students with the skills and knowledge to gain a greater understanding of themselves, others, and human existence in general
  2. Explain and understand social and psychological issues using psychological principles
  3. Gain insight from students on how psychological concepts can be applied to enhance long-term learning, social abilities, and environmental concerns.

BS Psychology Eligibility

12 years of Education, minimum 45% marks, FA/FSC/ICS/I.COM

  • The BS in Psychology program is only open to applicants who reside in Pakistan and is not available to international students. If accepted, any student wishing to move abroad must withdraw from the program
  • Candidates who have completed ‘A’ levels must provide an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of the Chairman in Islamabad from the link (http://www.ibcc.edu.pk/)
  • Candidates with less than 45% marks can be admitted after completing the “Zero Semester“.

Course Exemption

Students who have already completed 14 years of education and those wishing to transfer their credit hours from other universities are eligible for course exemption

 Degree Duration

This program is a four-year full-time course, divided into eight semesters, each semester has at least 18 weeks for teaching and examinations.

Assessment of Study

Students’ academic progress is assessed continuously during the semester through assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), midterm exams, and final exams. The midterm and final exams, which make up 80-85% of a course, are managed at the locations of the virtual university’s designated exam centers all over Pakistan as well as overseas.

Project/Internship Report

Completion of a Project or internship is required for a BS Psychology degree to be awarded

  • Students must complete three credit hours in Research Project (PSY619) in their final semester. While students are free to choose their projects, they must consult with their advisors beforehand. Upon completion, students must submit a written report and present their project in a viva.
  • Students must complete a 6-8 week internship in a Psychiatric clinic or School and receive an Internship Letter from the organization. Upon completion, they will receive an Internship Completion Certificate from the organization submit a detailed Internship Report, and give a viva presentation

Important Notice;

The evaluation of the “Final Project”/ “Internship Report” course will be based on a pass/fail criterion, and it will not affect the student’s CGPA. However, as this course is a compulsory requirement, it is necessary to pass it to complete the degree program.

Award of Degree

To be awarded a Bachelor of Psychology degree, a student must complete at least 134 credit hours of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.
