B.Ed. (Hons) Elementary

The education sector is continuously expanding and evolving, requiring educators to adapt to the needs of students with different learning styles and abilities. Elementary education, which is the first stage of formal education, usually follows nursery or Montessori school education and prepares students for middle and secondary school education.

During the elementary education phase, one teacher is responsible for the student’s education and overall well-being throughout the academic year. This enables teachers to build strong relationships with their students, which is essential for creating a positive and conducive learning environment.

Virtual University B.Ed. (Hons) Elementary Program

The objective of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Elementary) program is to equip aspiring teachers with the necessary tools and knowledge to face future educational challenges. This program provides teachers with an in-depth understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum development, classroom management, and assessment techniques.

Objectives

Eligibility

12 years of Education, minimum 45% marks, FA/FSC/ICS/I.COM

  • Candidates who have completed ‘A’ levels must provide an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of the Chairman in Islamabad.
  • Candidates with less than 45% marks can be admitted after completing the “Zero Semester“.
  • Candidates with an Associate Degree in Education (Elementary) may be admitted to the 5th Semester, but those who have deficiencies in certain courses, as determined by Virtual University, must complete those courses successfully before registering for the 5th Semester.

Course Exemption

Students who have already completed 14 years of education and those wishing to transfer their credit hours from other universities are eligible for course exemption.

Degree Duration

This program is a four-year full-time course, divided into eight semesters, each semester has at least 18 weeks for teaching and examinations.

Assessment of Study Progress

The evaluation of students’ academic progress is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester, including assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), and mid-term and final-term exams. The mid and final-term exams are conducted at VU’s designated exam centers and typically account for 80-85% of the total marks for a course.

Teaching Practice

Students must complete the teaching practice of 15 credit hours in the B.Ed. (Hons). It is mandatory that the teaching practice be held in public or private elementary schools and preschools. 

Project

Students must complete a search project of 6 credit hours. Students must consult their advisor before selecting a final project. They must submit a written report and may be asked to present it.

Degree Awarded

To be awarded a Bachelor of Science in B.Ed. (Hons) Elementary degree, a student must complete at least 145 credit hours of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.
