Associate Degree Program in Islamic Banking

The Associate Degree Program in Islamic Banking is a specialized educational program that has been designed for individuals who have completed 12 years of education and are interested in learning about the principles, concepts, and practices of Islamic banking. This program aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the essential aspects of Islamic banking operations. To equip the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue entry-level jobs in the Islamic banking sector.

Islamic banking is a rapidly growing parallel banking system in Pakistan and worldwide. It is a system that is based on the principles of Shariah, which prohibits interest-based transactions and promotes ethical and socially responsible financial practices. The Associate Degree Program in Islamic Banking aims to familiarize students with the basic principles of Shariah and their application in Islamic banking operations.

Virtual University Associate Degree Program in Islamic Banking

The program covers a range of topics, including the fundamentals of Islamic economics, the principles of Shariah, the structure and functioning of Islamic financial institutions, and the various products and services offered by Islamic banks. Students also learn about the regulatory framework governing Islamic banking in Pakistan and worldwide.

The program is designed to provide students with a well-integrated knowledge of Islamic banking and Islamic finance. It includes practical training and hands-on experience through internships and industry collaborations. This approach allows students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Islamic banking industry and the skills necessary to succeed in it.

Eligibility

12 years of Education, minimum 45% marks, FA/FSC/ICS/I.COM

  • Candidates who have completed ‘A’ levels must provide an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of the Chairman in Islamabad.
  • Candidates with less than 45% marks can be admitted after completing the “Zero Semester”.

Degree Duration

This program is a two-year full-time course, divided into four semesters, each semester has at least 18 weeks for teaching and examinations.

Assessment of Study Progress

Student’s academic progress is assessed continuously during the semester through assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), midterm exams, and final exams. The midterm and final exams, which make up 80-85% of a course, are managed at the locations of the virtual university’s designated exam centers all over Pakistan and overseas.

Project or Internship

  • Students must complete a Final Year Project of 3 Credit Hours. Students must consult their advisor before selecting a final project. They must submit a written report and may be asked to present it.
  • Internship course students must complete a 6 to 8-week internship in an organization and obtain an internship letter from that organization. Currently employed students are exempt from the internship requirement but must submit a project.

Degree Awarded

In order to be awarded an Associate Degree in Islamic Banking, a student must complete at least 69 credit hours of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.
