Associate Degree in Education (Service)
The associate degree in-service program is designed for teachers currently working and holding a FA/F.Sc./equivalent qualification along with a CT/Diploma in Education. It is intended to help these teachers improve their knowledge, skills, and qualifications in order to perform their jobs better.
In Pakistan, after 2018, ADE or B.Ed. (4 years) degree will be mandatory for both induction and promotion as a teacher. This means that without this degree, these teachers will not have any academic or career advancement opportunities. By completing the ADE degree, these teachers will be able to upgrade their professional status and potentially pursue further higher education degrees.
The ADE degree program will provide these teachers with the necessary training and education to improve their teaching abilities and enhance their overall job performance. This will ultimately benefit both the teachers and their students, as the teachers will be better equipped to provide high-quality education.
Objectives
- Provide working teachers who have completed 12 years of education and hold a professional qualification (CT or DIE) with opportunities to improve their pedagogical knowledge and skills.
- Provide professional growth and advancement avenues for in-service teachers to help them progress in their careers.
- Provide access to higher education for working teachers to enable them to further their academic pursuits.
Eligibility
12 years of Education, minimum 45% marks, FA/FSC/ICS/I.COM
- Professional credentials: CT or Diploma in Teaching.
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in an accredited school is required
- Candidates who have completed ‘A’ levels must provide an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of the Chairman in Islamabad.
- Candidates with less than 45% marks can be admitted after completing the “Zero Semester“.
Course Exemption
Course selection is not available for this program.
Duration
The course is designed to be completed over one year with two-semester, each semester has at least 18 weeks.

Assessment of Study Progress
The evaluation of students’ academic progress is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester, including assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), and mid-term and final-term exams. The mid and final-term exams are conducted at VU’s designated exam centers and typically account for 80-85% of the total marks for a course.
Degree Awarded
To be awarded an award of an associate degree in education- in Service, a student must complete at least 41 credit hours of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.
