B. Ed Secondary (1.5 Year)

This program is designed to prepare students to take on leadership roles in educational organizations. Through the program, students will acquire a range of skills including management, problem-solving, and research techniques. These skills are essential for leading and managing educational organizations effectively.

The program will expose students to cutting-edge approaches to education. By staying up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in education, students will be better equipped to create effective solutions to issues facing educational organizations.

B. Ed Secondary (1.5 Year)

Finally, students will have the opportunity to apply these skills in real-world settings, such as classrooms and institutions. This practical experience will help them to develop the confidence and competence necessary to succeed as leaders in educational organizations.

Objectives

  • Design learning experiences that align with students’ cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development.
  • Establish a learning environment that promotes active learning and positive social interaction to accelerate students’ learning.
  • Incorporate diverse technologies to facilitate meaningful learning across various subjects for student engagement.
  • Comprehend the importance of assessment and apply both formal and informal assessment techniques to assess student’s learning progress.
  • Utilize research skills in both teaching and administrative practices.

Program Outcomes

Upon program completion, candidates can work as

  • Administrative and instructional supervisor.
  • Educator in a high school setting.
  • Instructor at a higher secondary, intermediate, college, or university level.
  • Pursue additional education in the field of education.

Eligibility

  • The minimum requirement for admission: A master’s degree (equivalent to 16 years of education) with a minimum of 45% marks or a CGPA of 2.0 out of 4.
  • Candidates with less than 45% marks can be admitted after completing the “Zero Semester“.

Course Exemption

By University regulations, individuals who possess an HEC-recognized one-year (30 credit hours) postgraduate diploma in Education or Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education may be eligible for course exemption on a case-by-case basis. However, this exemption will not shorten the overall duration of their study program.

Duration

The program is a full-time study program that spans over 1.5 years, consisting of three semesters. Each semester lasts for a minimum of 18 weeks, encompassing teaching, examinations, and related activities.

Assessment of Study Progress

The evaluation of students’ academic progress is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester, including assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), and mid-term and final-term exams. The mid and final-term exams are conducted at VU’s designated exam centers and typically account for 80-85% of the total marks for a course.

Project or Internship

During the B.Ed. secondary program, students must fulfill a 6-credit hour requirement for a Project or Teaching Internship. The selection of the final project is left to the discretion of the student, but it is mandatory to consult with the student advisor. Additionally, students must submit a detailed write-up of the project and may be required to give a presentation.

Award of Degree

To be awarded a degree in B.Ed. secondary program, a student must complete at least 54-55 credit hours of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.
