Associate Degree Mass Communication (2 Year)

The associate degree in mass communication is a 2-year regular degree program. this program is designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to the students to start their professional careers at an early age to support their families. 

The students in this program will learn several concepts and skills related to mass communication. This is included broadcasting, journalism, public relations, and advertising. By gaining a solid understanding of these areas, students will be well-prepared for various careers in mass communication.

Candidates who hold an associate degree in mass communication can either convert to a respective four-year Bachelor of Science in mass communication. They can also apply for new admission to any four-year BS degree program (subject to meeting admission eligibility criteria and exemption/transfer of relevant qualified courses as per policy)

Associate Degree Mass Communication (2 Year)

Objective

  • The objective is to foster comprehension of the most recent trends in Mass Communication.
  • The aim is to cultivate communication skills that will enhance success in professional life.
  • The goal is to encourage the development of critical thinking skills concerning media evolution.
  • The objective is to enable students to write features and articles effectively.
  • The aim is to develop the ability to analyze media contents and their implications critically.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed 12 years of education, such as Intermediate or equivalent, with a minimum of 45% marks.

  • The candidates having completed ‘A’ levels must provide an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of the Chairman in Islamabad from the link (http://www.ibcc.edu.pk/)
  • Candidates with less than 45% marks can be admitted after completing the “Zero Semester“.

Course Exemption

Course exemption is not allowed for this program.

Degree Duration

This program is a two-year full-time course, divided into four semesters, each semester has at least 18 weeks for teaching and examinations.

Assessment of Study Progress

Students’ academic progress is assessed continuously during the semester through assignments, online quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), midterm exams, and final exams. The midterm and final exams, which make up 80-85% of a course, are managed at the locations of the virtual university’s designated exam centers all over Pakistan as well as overseas.

Project or Internship

Students must complete a Project or internship report of 3 Credit Hours, in the fourth semester to be eligible for the degree.

Award of Degree

To be awarded an associate degree in mass communication, a student must complete at least 66 to 70 credit hours of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.
